Using RedGage To Promote Your Website: The Pros and Cons

Updated on March 12, 2013

When looking into promoting my website, I started doing research into ways of getting more traffic. While doing this research, one of the places that I kept hearing about was RedGage.com

What Is RedGage?

RedGage is a website that is free to join, that allows you to upload articles, documents, pictures, blog posts and links. You are not even required to upload all of these things, so in theory if you wanted to use it to simply post links to your work, you can. The interesting thing about this site, is that they pay you to post things, even if you are posting links to other sites. So in theory if using RedGage is done correctly, this website could be used to make additional passive income and drive traffic to your sites.

Since I am very cautious about things that seem too good to be true, I started looking up reviews for RedGage, and trying to find evidence of a scam. Let me say that after doing my research and hearing what people using the site had to say, I could not find any evidence of this being a scam. The site states that you can make money by posting anything, and this appears to be true, and even more interesting the earnings of each member are publicly available for all to see. When looking at reviews I noticed that in quite a few places, people were complaining that RedGage did not have a very high payout, but for what you get in return: i.e. backlinks to your other work and websites as well as traffic, it’s a pretty good deal. Since I was looking for free ways to promote my website, this site appears to fit in very well with my own needs, because I found a place that will actually pay you to post your links. In fact I would argue that although the payout on RedGage is not very high, the important thing is that there IS a payout. Yes it might be a few cents here and there, but they do pay you to post your own stuff. It isn’t going to make you rich (although some people claim they have made a significant amount of money) but it’s worth checking out.

Check out what I had to say about the site, after using it for a few more weeks.

Here is my review of RedGage, based on my personal experience with the site so far:

The Pros

This website is very useful for people who have content on several different sites, you can repost your content links to RedGage and drive more traffic to your blog and/or website. Right off the bat I thought it was an interesting place; people there seem friendly and the community seems eager to help out if you have any problems or questions. Furthermore they have tutorials at your disposal to help you, and I recommend at least checking those out to get a feel for what you are doing. The payout is in the form of a Visa credit card, and they pay you once you reach the amount of 25 dollars. You can also win daily prizes for these credit cards which encourage people to be active members.

The Cons

They don’t give you money when you reach a certain limit but instead the payouts are in prepaid Visa credit cards, which can be a problem for some people. When reading reviews of the website, some people were upset that they used credit cards. This company is located in the United States and as a result many RedGage users located overseas have mentioned having problems using the credit cards. The cards are with Visa, so I suggest wherever you are located to find out if you would be able to use them in your area. I haven't heard of any problems for Canadians or anyone south of the American border, and for Americans using RedGage, this is perfect. Another issue that I have heard about with the gift cards is that to use the card you will require activating the card for a fee. What this means is that they give you a code to access your card and a fee of 5 dollars will automatically be removed from the prepaid card. The good news is that the activation fee is a one time fee, meaning that as long as you use the same card, you will never have to pay for an activation fee again: your payouts will be loaded onto your card at your convenience.

Another problem that I have encountered is that the site can be extremely slow.. This isn’t a single event either, and when I was looking into it I noticed that many users had the same complaint. I joined the site expecting it to be slow, and after using it, I can honestly say it isn’t that big a deal. Sometimes when I click on a link and wait for it to load, I will notice that it hasn’t loaded and I will have to click on the link again. This even happened one time when I was uploading a link, I followed all the steps and clicked continue, it took me back to the main page, but when I clicked on my profile I could see that the article hadn’t been uploaded to the site. So if you do use RedGage just make sure to keep track of your articles and make sure that everything is working properly.

Conclusion

The problems that I mentioned on the site aren’t very bad at all, in fact there are many sites with much worse problems. I would say that the good definitely outweighs the bad and for people who are trying to promote their blogs and webpages, I would say that it is definitely worth taking a look and trying out! This site is a great way to make a few extra bucks by posting your own content. You can post anything you want: videos, blogs, photos and links and you get paid to do it!

Have you heard of RedGage? What do you think of it? I would be interested to hear from other people who have used the site and get their opinions on it.
